AG’s Office Orders Probe Into State’s Failure To File Defence

An investigation has been ordered by the Attorney General’s office into the circumstances surrounding the State’s failure to file a defence in a civil action claiming malicious prosecution by nine former accused.

The nine had been charged and were subject to a criminal trial for the kidnapping and murder of businesswoman Vindra Naipaul-Coolman.

Acting Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Stuart Young, is pursuing this matter and is promising a Press Conference on the matter tomorrow, Wednesday.

The men who were made to stand on trial for the 2006 murder of businesswoman Vindra Naipaul Coolman are set to receive a total of $20 million for malicious prosecution from the State.
