Beginning day five on 21 without loss, the Windies were expected to show more intent in an effort to create a victory. Raymond Reifer hit nine boundaries on his way to 58, while vice skipper Jermaine Blackwood registered 57 with five fours and one six. The innings was declared at 203 for 5 setting Zimbabwe a target of 272 for the win. The fatigued home side came out with no intentions to chase. However, they lost 6 wickets in their defence effort, for 134 runs at the close of play. Gudakesh Motie who opened the bowling with his left arm spin, took four wickets for fifty runs. Tagenarine Chanderpaul was given man of the match honours. The second and final clash will take place on Sunday February 12th at 4am eastern Caribbean time.
