Tobago Chalkie Sentenced To Hard Labour

Calypsonian Alex Gift, better known as Tobago Chalkie, has been sentenced to 72 months’ hard labour.

The calypsonian from Carnbee, Tobago appeared before the Scarborough Magistrate Virtual Court on Friday, to answer to charges of Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.

Last Monday October 11th, a party of officers attached to the Shirvan Road Police Station conducted a search of his motor vehicle on the compound of his business, Buzy Electrical at Milford Road Bon Accord. One brown leather pouch containing one Pistol with a magazine containing fifteen rounds and one envelope containing twelve rounds of 9mm ammunition were found. The popular Tobago calypsonian was charged on Thursday and was sentenced after pleading guilty to the offences.

In April, Tobago Chalkie, along with his wife, was accused of assaulting his landlady. He was charged with four counts of inflicting bodily harm.
