Relief Coming For Marabella Fire Victims – San Fernando Mayor Confirms Relocation On The Way

Eight children and fifteen adults are now homeless following a fire which destroyed five apartments along John Street in Marabella in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

The fire completely destroyed two buildings, which each housed an upstairs and downstairs apartment. The blaze spread to another apartment building on a separate property and destroyed the entire top floor apartment. While the downstairs apartment was spared, the house is uninhabitable as it suffered smoke and water damage.

One of the residents said he was awoken by a loud noise at around 12:45am, and saw fire on the roof of one of the houses.

San Fernando Mayor Junia Regrello confirmed that the families are being relocated. He is thankful for the Good Samaritans who have assisted the families thus far, and the Housing Development Corporation for finding accommodation for them.

Father of seven, Cory Greene, who lost everything in the blaze, also expressed his gratitude for those who have come forward to help.
