Ministry of Works and Transport officials are conducting weekly checks of the Manzanilla Bypass Road, according Line Minister Rohan Sinanan.
Considering the recent protest where parts of the Manzanilla Bypass Road were blocked, the Minister was asked to indicate what remedial works have been executed to resolve this issue, during Urgent Questions in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
He said the weekly checks are to ensure that the road is in satisfactory condition.
Minister Sinanan said due to motorists not adhering to the speed limit and heavy vehicles using the by-pass, damage will occur.
He said the area where the roadway is constructed is sensitive.
