The Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago has confirmed that two persons were injured in an emergency landing today.
In a release, the Authority said flight training aircraft, registration number 9-YT-JU, experienced difficulty on approach for landing at Runway 10, and made an emergency landing just North West of the Piarco International Airport.
Two persons were retrieved from the aircraft – the instructor and a student pilot. They were transported to the Arima Medical Facility and are receiving medical attention.
The Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service also shared a video of the wreckage to their Facebook page.
The incident happened at 9:48am, farmer Hemraj Lakhan witnessed the incident as it unfolded.
