CDA Workers Protest Outstanding Issues

A group of Chaguaramas Development Authority workers staged a protest outside the Authority’s compound on Tuesday.

National Union of Government and Federated Workers’ General Grievance Officer, Stephen Richards, said the union has several outstanding issues with the company.

Mr. Richardson indicated there are currently 65 workers employed at the CDA. He noted the Authority’s organisational chart indicates there should be 130 workers.

In response, the management of the Chaguaramas Development Authority says it was quite surprised by the actions taken by the workers as the matters raised are currently being addressed. Regarding the sick leave bonus, the CDA says the Human Resource Department is currently verifying the list of persons entitled to a bonus.

The CDA says it is also waiting on a list from the daily-paid foremen so that repairs on the structure could commence immediately.
