The Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries (MALF) received a state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) from the Ministry of Digital Transformation on Wednesday.
The aerial vehicle will enable the Ministry, through its Surveys and Mapping Division, to achieve progress in land management and fulfil its obligations under the Land Surveyors Act.
Minister Kazim Hosein said it marks the beginning of a new era for the Surveys and Mapping Division.
The last comprehensive aerial survey and mapping exercise done on a national scale was back in 2014. The Minister said the demand for current imagery for various purposes such as monitoring state lands, property valuation, flood mitigation and coastal monitoring, has grown significantly.
