The Eid-ul-Fitr public holiday will be recognised on Saturday April 22nd, 2023.
In accordance with the provisions of the Public Holidays and Festivals Act, President Christine Kangaloo, on the advice of the Cabinet, declared that date for the public holiday.
The religious holiday is celebrated by Muslims worldwide and it marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.
Eid al-Fitr is a time of official receptions and private visits, when friends greet one another, presents are given, new clothes are worn, and the graves of relatives are visited.
