MOE And UWI Sign Historic MOU

The Ministry of Education and the University of the West Indies – St. Augustine Campus have signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding cementing the relationship between the entities in an effort to manage, preserve, and conserve the Dr. Eric Williams Memorial Collection.

Campus Registrar at the UWI St. Augustine Campus, Dr. Dawn-Marie De Four-Gill, said the collection comprises the vast compilation of academic papers, lectures, books, unpublished works, and other pieces of memorabilia. She said this creates more accessibility to the legacy left by the father of the nation.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education Kurt Meyer said preserving this piece of history will greatly benefit the people of Trinidad and Tobago, particularly the children of the nation in whom Dr. Williams took a keen interest.

The Collection was previously housed at the Alma Jordan Library at the UWI St. Augustine Campus, and in September 2022, the Eric Williams Memorial Collection, Research, Library Archives and Museum at Knox Street, Port of Spain was launched.
