After a three year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, outdoor hockey in Trinidad & Tobago will return this weekend, on Sunday April 30th.
The return will be at a familiar but updated surface in the West – the Trinidad & Tobago Police Service Sports Club Ground at the Barracks in St. James.
After the Opening Ceremony, competition will begin with a format unfamiliar to some in Trinidad and Tobago and the newest format of the sport – hockey 5s. This format sees five players compete in a field half the size of a regular turf. The sides of the are lined with approximately 10cm high side boards.
Expected to take part in the competition are Checkers, Magnolias, Ventures, Paragon, Malvern, Notre Dame, The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, Queen’s Park and Shape hockey clubs.
