Former Trinidad and Tobago Professional Boxer, Claude Noel, has passed away at the age of 74.
Noel began his professional career on November 13th 1973, fighting in Port of Spain. He beat Art de Freitas by second round knockout. After a run of four victories, Noel successfully challenged for his first title – the Trinidad & Tobago Lightweight title.
Sending condolences on his passing was the People’s National Movement via a Facebook post early on Tuesday morning. They recalled the Tobago-born boxer’s career, which spanned from 1973 to 1984. The PNM expressed condolences to his family and close friends, recalling that Noel contested a total of 41 official fights and lost just 10 of those.
He also held the WBA World Lightweight title and the Commonwealth Lightweight title.
Noel was also a recipient of the Chaconia Gold Medal in 1982.
