Local Government Matters In Parliament On Monday

Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Faris Al-Rawi, says the Prime Minister will address the issue of UK Privy Council’s ruling on the postponement of Local Government Elections at the next Parliamentary session.

In December, when Local Government Elections were postponed for a year, regional councils remained in place to continue serving their communities.

When the Privy Council ruled against Government’s postponement on May 18th, Councillors’ term expired, leaving Mayors and Chairmen in place to run the affairs of the local bodies.
