Facebook Incorporated has changed its name to Meta.
On Thursday the company rebranded the social media company.
Chief Executive Office of the social media company, Mark Zuckerberg, speaking at a live streamed virtual and augmented reality conference, said the name refers to the meta verse.
This is part of the company’s move to bring its different apps and technologies under one brand.
Mr. Zuckerberg has also indicated that from December 1st the company will begin trading under the new stock ticker, MVRS.
In addition, a new sign representing the change in name was unveiled at the company’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California on Thursday.
