Education Ministry: SEA Scores Improved

The Ministry of Education has noted a marked improvement in the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) results in 2023 when compared to 2022 and 2021.

Education Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly said the improvement in students’ performance is expected, due to the physical return of students to the classroom.

She added that the Ministry’s interventions in addressing learning loss through the implementation of the Remedial Education Programme in 80 Primary Schools also attributed to the improvement.

According to a release from the Ministry, the percentage of students scoring above 50% on the SEA this yeas was 58.06% versus 37.06% in 2022 and 52.49% in 2021.

Additionally, in 2023, the percentage of students scoring 30% or below decreased to 13.55% when compared to 2022 and 2021.

In 2023, the mean Mathematics score is 50.4, English Language Arts Writing, 53.4 ,and English Language Arts score is 61.6.

These mean scores in 2023, when compared to 2022, show a marked improvement in the performance of students.

A total of 18,797 students wrote the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA).
