The West Indies men went down to India by 141 runs in the First Test at the Windsor Park in Dominica inside of three days.
India posted 421 for five declared with a top score of 171 from debutante Yashavi Jaiswal. Captain Rohit Sharma also got a century but was dismissed shortly after for 103. The prolific Virat Kholi played a safe innings of 76 to push the total upward.
Nine West Indian bowlers toiled on Day 3, with Jomel Warrican delivering 45 overs for his solitary wicket.
The West Indies began their second innings on the second session of Day 3 and looked expectedly fatigued. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals and, at 100 for 7, it was only a matter of time before they were bowled out. In the end, they were dismissed for another low total of 130.
Ravichandran Ashwin took 7 for 71 to top the bowling column finishing with a match haul of 12 for 131 runs, leading India to the win having spent just one inning at the crease.
The Second Test will bowl off at the Queen’s Park Oval on Thursday July 20th.
