T&T’s Nigel Paul advanced to the Quarter-final round of the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships in Belgrade today.
The Olympian Beat Albania’s Nelson Hysa to advance to the third round meeting with Spain’s Ayoub Ghadfa in Section 4.
Fighting out of the red corner Paul continued his strong showing in Serbia forcing Ghadfa to face a standing eight count in the opening round and then again in the second
Ghadfa tried to give as much as he got but struggled for long periods.
Paul had more more agression and in the latter stages of the three round bout appeared to have more in the tank.
T&T’s lone remaining representative at the championships got the nod from four of five judges, he’ll face Turkey’s Berat Ackar for a spot in the semis on Tuesday.
