National Officers from the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA) met with the Permanent Secretary and officials from the Ministry of Education to address issues with the contracts of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) teachers.
The meeting follows a protest outside of the Ministry of Education’s building on Tuesday as TTUTA officials called on officials from the Ministry to amend the terms and conditions for ECCE teachers.
Speaking with TTT News on Wednesday, President of TTUTA, Martin Lum Kin, said at the virtual meeting today, the Ministry advised that they in consultation with the Chief Personnel Officer as it relates to the contracts for ECCE teachers.
Mr. Lum Kin said they specifically addressed vacation days for ECCE teachers.
He added that TTUTA will be reaching out to the Ministry this Friday, July 28th, for an update.
Mr. Lum Kin said should the Ministry fail to provide an update, TTUTA’s national officers will decide on the next steps to treat with the issue as mandated by the general counsel of the Association.
