TSTT Records Profit

Despite the financial challenges overall in the telecommunications sector, and specifically for the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago, TSTT CEO Lisa Agard says their returns have recently been good.

The TSTT CEO says without the reorganisation of the company, things may not have been so rosy. Ms. Agard explains their action was necessary in light of a declining global telecommunications industry, a decline in fixed and cell phone calls and concomitant lower revenue along with the impact of seven large tech companies like Google, Netflix, and others.

The big tech companies, she said, use 67% of network capacity but contribute zero dollars. She added that coupled with a $480 million decline in revenue between 2020 and 2021, plans to keep TSTT afloat emerged, which included the restructure.
