The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is again denying any allegations of collusion with any Government entity.
The statement from Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Curt Simon was made at the Police Weekly Media Briefing.
It follows an alleged voice recording of ‘whistleblower’ Akil Abdullah on Wednesday saying he was coerced to make false allegations.
THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has since denied such allegations.
Mr. Simon said the TTPS is aware of these statements made in the public, and assured that the Police Service is an independent body that will continue its investigation into the matter.
He also assured that the TTPS would not be influenced by any public statements, noting that it will continue its thorough investigations.
Asked whether the whistleblower or the Chief Secretary has been questioned with regards to the matter, Mr. Simon said a ‘number of persons’ have been interviewed, but stopped short of revealing any names.
