The first Youth Test Match between the West Indies and Sri Lanka Under-19s played out a draw on the 4th and final day in Dambulla today.
The West Indies resumed on Day 4 on an overnight score of 119 for 3 with Jordon Johnson looking good on 54 not out. Johnson took that momentum into the final day to register an impressive 149 in 207 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes.
That knock was a vital contribution to the West Indies first innings score of 309 all-out in just under 90 overs. The other contributions of note were 41 from Steve Wedderburn and 36 from Nathan Edward.
In Sri Lanka’s second turn at the crease, they managed to reach 122 for 4 before the close of play. Those wickets being shared amongst Windies bowlers with one each for Isai Thorne, Reon Edwards, Nathan Sealy and Tarrique Edward.
Match drawn. The 2nd Youth Test will begins on Tuesday in Dambulla at 12:30 am Eastern Caribbean Time.
