Point Lisas Desal Plant Restarted

Customers in parts of Central and South Trinidad who have been affected by the shutdown at the Point Lisas Desalination Plant are being advised that operations were resumed at approximately 7:15pm on Sunday.

This according to a media release by the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA).

The Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Desalcott) says as of Sunday night it has been ramping up operations, which currently stands at 36 million gallons per day which is 90% of the contractual agreement of 40 million gallons per day.

Desalcott has advised the Authority that works necessary to return the Plant to full production of 40 million gallons per day are still ongoing, and until then customers at elevated or extremities of the distribution system may continue to experience a disruption in service.

The Desalcott Plant was shut down last Monday, October 16th, for planned maintenance works.
