Police Commissioner Erla Christopher is assuring the public that its anti-crime initiatives will not be compromised by officers proceeding on leave.
The Police Commissioner issued a statement in response to concerns about officers proceeding on leave in light of the current crime situation.
She says the TTPS remains acutely sensitive of the level of policing that the current crime situation warrants.
In her statement on Thursday morning, she says it is in this context also that the TTPS welcomed the recent supplementation of the Service with members of the Defence Force as an initiative that will provide additional capacity to support the maintenance and intensification of anti-crime operations.
Commissioner Christopher further states that the Service has implemented a policy by scheduling officers to utilise portions of their leave on a phased and controlled basis.
However, these officers will remain available to be recalled if the circumstances so warrant.
