Arranger Extraordinaire Earl Rodney Dies

Champion Steelpan Arranger Earl Rodney has died. In a musical career that spanned several decades, Earl Rodney’s last performance was in 2019 at his birthday celebration, entitled, 81 and still going strong.

Rodney, who is originally from Point Fortin, Trinidad joined Solo Harmonites in 1967. The champion arranger won his first title with Harmonites in 1968. It was not his last as he went on to take two more titles in 1971 and 1972. He also has two third place finishes in 1969 and 1973. The three songs he took titles with were Lord Kitchener’s Wrecker, Play Mas and St. Thomas Girl.
