The body of former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday is expected to arrive this evening.
The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force will be at the Piarco International Airport to receive the body when it arrives.
On Wednesday, the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago placed a Condolence Book in the Rotunda of the Red House in memory of the fifth Prime Minister. The first to sign was President Christine Kangaloo. She also met with some of Mr. Panday’s family members who were present at the Rotunda.
The Condolence Book will be opened to members of the Public on Thursday, Friday, and next Monday.
Mr. Panday’s funeral will be the first State funeral conducted under Hindu rites as he was the first Hindu to hold the office of Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the funeral for the first Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Hochoy Charles, will be held at the Shaw Park Complex in Tobago on Thursday. All THA offices and schools on the island will be closed to allow staff and students to attend the funeral.
