Harold Taylor, a former Caribbean Football Union General Secretary, has died.
Mr. Taylor administered the game in Trinidad and Tobago moving on to take up leadership roles in CFU and CONCACAF. He was 88.
Taylor was born in Erin and spent most of his adult life in Santa Cruz.
He held the CFU position from 1993 to 2005 in what was the most successful period for the 25-member voting bloc.
During his tenure, two teams qualified for the FIFA World Cup, Jamaica in 1998, and Trinidad and Tobago in 2006.
Taylor is being remembered as an ardent supporter of the dreams of a number of organisations from the community to international levels and a true friend of the sport.
He is survived by his wife and six children. His eldest Michael remains involved in the sport as a member of the Terminix Rangers technical staff. Another son, Joseph, previously served as a FIFA referee and President of the T&T Football Referees Association.
