Gasparillo Residents Want Road Repaired

Residents of LightBorne, Gasparillo staged a protest at a landslip on the Caratal/Tortuga Road to highlight the poor road condition in the area on Saturday.

A number of residents gathered on Saturday morning, armed with placards, and openly shared with TTT News their dissatisfaction with the condition of the roads in their area.

According to the residents, the conditions can only be described as deplorable. Added to the condition of the roads, they said there is also a landslip along the Caratal/Tortuga Road, which has posed a problem for drivers as well.

One resident, Donna Thomas, explained that taxis are now refusing to pass through certain areas because of the high risk of damaging their vehicles. She went further to explain that another resident lost their home to a fire earlier this year because fire tenders were unable to access the home.

Another resident said they are hopeful the matter is treated with some urgency as they are fearful of running into problems should emergencies arise.

TTT News reached out to Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan for comment on the matter and will update on this in a subsequent newscast.
