Farmers are being taught to adopt on-farm technologies to meet the demand of fruits and vegetables.
The Caribbean Agricultural Productivity Improvement Activity (CAPA), which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), hosted a workshop focused on strengthening the extension services across eight beneficiary countries in the Caribbean.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Ric Javid, said CAPA aims to enhance nutrition security by building the capacity of buyers and input suppliers and improving farm level extension services.
USAID Programme Management Specialist, Durwin Humphrey, said they will also explore the latest technologies for modernising and ensuring they meet the needs of their farmers in a rapidly changing world.
The workshop explored innovative approaches to extension services leveraging technology and practices to empower farmers and their livelihoods.
