Sri Lanka’s Women registered a series sweep versus the West Indies Women with a comprehensive victory in the third One Day International in Hambantota.
Without captain Hayley Matthews it was always a tough assignment for the West Indies and it was made even more so with a 93-run opening stand by the host as they went on to amass 275 for 6 in their 50 overs. Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu put her self in position for back-to-back ICC Player of the Month Awards with a blistering 91 to lead her team in scoring. They also got big scores from Nilakshika Silva with 63 and Anushka Sanjeewani, 55.
Karishma Ramharack was the Windies best bowler with 2 wickets at the cost of 45 runs.
The regional team never challenged the target with the main obstacle being Sachini Nisan-sala who took 5 for 28 in just 5.5 overs for Sri Lanka.
46 by Chedean Nation was the highest score for the West Indies with Aaliyah Alleyne’s 27 the next best…Windies all out for 115 in 34.5 overs, as they lost by 160 runs and surrendered the series 3-0.
