After nearly a month of intense cricket competition in the West Indies and USA, India were today crowned champions of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. They defeated South Africa, in a nail biting encounter, at the Kensington Oval, in Barbados.
India who won the toss, decided to bat first, and was met with some early South Africa resistance, as they were at 34 for 3, after 4.3 overs. The reliable Virat Kholi, stepped up to cease the moment as he scored a remarkable 76 runs to guide his team to a competitive 176 for 7 after twenty overs.
Despite the loss of some early wickets, with a score of 70 for 3, after 8.5 overs. South Africa overcame that hurdle , and at one stage needing 26 runs from 24 balls to grab the victory. Hadrik Pandya, then stepped up for India’s final over to grab two wickets to break South African hearts, as India won by 7 runs, to claim their first T20 World Cup title, in seventeen years.
