The Ministry of Trade and Industry embarked on several sensitisation sessions with stakeholders involved in trade facilitation for the development of this country’s National Trade Strategy.
This strategy is a comprehensive National Development Plan, formulated and validated jointly by the public and private sector to enhance a country’s trade performance for the benefit of its people.
Speaking at the culmination of the sessions on Thursday, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Ava Mahabir-Dass, said the National Trade Strategy is a key initiative of the Ministry’s effort to support the diversification agenda and place emphasis with strong export and investment potential.
She said the Ministry has sought the assistance of the International Trade Centre (ITC) to assist T&T in carving out its Trade Strategy. Mrs. Mahabir-Dass said the ITC also assisted the Ministry in past projects, the most recent being the market analysis tool into T&T’s trade and business information portal which was launched in May 2022 and is on the Ministry’s website.
