Former National Football Captain Russell Latapy and his playing partner, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association Wayne Baptiste, finished first in their 50 & Over category at the TTGA’s Qualifying Tournament at the St. Andrews Golf Course to represent T&T at the Caribbean Golf Association’s 4-ball Championships to be played in October in Tobago.
Latapy and Baptiste shot 72 and 75 respectively to secure one of the six spots available.
West Indies batting legend Brian Lara missed out on qualification with his playing partner Courtney Edwards as Clint Alfred and Desron Ambrose secured the top spot in the 35 & Over category.
The remaining teams to qualify were Richard Camacho and Angad Soonilal in the Men’s 60 & Over. Pran Rajindranath and Maurice Mathura in the Men’s 70 & Over.
In the Ladies qualifications, Violet Seenath and Dr. Ingrid Seebaran secured the top spot in the 45 & Over category, while Victoria Seenath and Tori De Freitas-Baptiste took the Ladies 25 & Over category.
