There is no shortage of chicken in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries released a statement this morning denying claims made by Member of Parliament (MP) Ravi Ratiram of a shortage of poultry in the country.
The Ministry stated that increased demands for local chicken were incumbent, based on the extension of the Food Box Programme, as well as the reopening of bars and food industries. Going on to explain the acquisition of specific quantities of chickens on credit terms by the National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO), the Ministry said it has partnered with the Ministry of Finance to fund the liabilities to local chicken processors before the end of the Food Box Programme on December 22nd.
