The West Indian Tobacco Company Limited (WITCO) is collaborating closely with its network of distributors and retailers to enhance the enforcement of the minimum age requirement for purchasing nicotine products via strict age verification protocols.
WITCO along with the Supermarkets Association of Trinidad and Tobago are sending a message to individuals under the age of 18, that they are strictly prohibited from purchasing any nicotine products.
Both have said they are committed to the responsibility and preventing youth access to these products, with WITCO noting that Youth Access Prevention is nothing new to the company, being an initiative that has been in place for years preventing youth access to tobacco products.
The Supermarkets Association, led by newly installed President Mr. Biondi Bachew, said it is their collective responsibility to safeguard the health and well-being of all consumers.
WITCO’s Acting Managing Director, Hiram Murillo, said the company is committed to working with its partners to implement effective measures that prevent underage access to nicotine products.
