Three persons are assisting officers of the Matura Police Station with enquiries following their arrest during an anti-crime exercise in the district.
Police seized two firearms: an AR McKinney rifle with a magazine and 40 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, a 9mm pistol with a magazine and 35 rounds of 9mm ammunition, camouflage clothing, one grinder, and other items of evidential value, following the anti-crime exercise.
According to the police, a salesman and two lorry men were conducting sales and, upon reaching the Toco Main Road, they observed two men in camouflage clothing with ski masks and firearms, standing in the roadway.
One of the suspects signalled for the driver to stop the vehicle. The driver complied, and a suspect demanded that he switch off the vehicle and hand over the key to the vault. The victims were then directed to lie on the roadway while another suspect attempted to access the safe with a grinder. The driver was relieved of $300. The suspects then fled the scene in a Toyota Hilux.
Following reports to the police, a white Toyota Hilux was found along Toco Main Road, Balandra. The three occupants of the vehicle were detained, and the firearms, ammunition, and clothing were seized.
