There should always be a place for women, especially in politics.
Senator Renuka Sagramsingh-Sooklal said the People’s National Movement understood this and has always valued women’s contributions in the decision making process, thus the creation of the Women’s League.
Challenges however would still exist – some different to those faced by men in politics. But Treasurer of the National Women’s League, Lorraine Heath, says defeating these are all about sisterhood.
The Senator shared that she was blessed with entering work life under strong female mentors, who had already begun to break down the glass barriers women face.
The Senator says the main stumbling block, really, was balancing family life with work. This, she said however was dealt with through family support networks.
