The Education Ministry will provide additional funding to transport school children whenever enough drivers are secured to service the routes that are needed.
The commitment was made by Education Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly when she responded to a concern raised by Tabaquite Member of Parliament, Anita Haynes-Alleyne.
At Tuesday’s Standing Finance Committee, MP Haynes-Alleyne questioned the 2024 allocation that was given to transport school children who need the service. Mrs. Haynes-Alleyne stated that in 2023 the sum was $52 million but noted it had been reduced.
