Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries Kazim Hosein has committed to assisting farmers especially those affected by recent adverse weather and flooding.

The Minister and other officials from the Ministry, conducted site visits across the severely affected Aranguez, Orange Grove and Plum Mitan farming communities on Wednesday, in an effort to discuss and address issues being faced, and suggestions for possible solutions.

Farmers raised concerns about land tenure issues, regular cleaning of the tributaries and main watercourses and repair works. They also noted that continued losses are pushing younger persons away from the sector.

The Ministry and farmers committed to working together to improve the sector, local food production and achieving food security.
