The Rahamut’s Evergreen Sports Club hosted its first 15 and Under Cricket Tournament over the past month at its home base in Pluck Road, Penal, with the Final taking place on Sunday.
The keenly-contested match was played between AJ Cricket Academy of Cunupia and the Badree Academy for Sport Education out of Penal.
AJ won the toss and decided to take first strike on a heavy and moist outfield, mounting 96 for 8 from their 20 overs. Amit Pittiman top scored with 38 while Keifer Ghiysawan and Kristophe Seuraj each took two wickets for BASE.
When the Southerners took to the crease, they were met with some tight bowling and fielding. The BASE batters struggled to pick up much -needed runs with only Ethan Ramcharan getting to a top score of 26. Daron Dhanraj had impressive figures of 2 wickets for 8 runs from his four overs, supported by Ashmeed Jumadeen who took 2 for 18.
BASE eventually closed their innings on 81 for 7, handing AJ Cricket Academy victory by 15 runs.
