The art fraternity in Trinidad and Tobago has been plunged into mourning following the murder of art curator Mark Pereira.
According to police reports, Mr. Pereira was shot and killed in Blanchisseuse on Monday night, during an attempted robbery.
Mr. Pereira was the owner of 101 Art Gallery at Holder’s Studio on Woodford Street in Port of Spain.
The Art Society of Trinidad & Tobago, in a post to its Facebook page, expressed deep sadness at his untimely passing.
The Art Society said 101 Art Gallery recently became the first Commercial Member of the Art Society as they launched a new campaign to breathe new life into the society by collaborating with corporate partners.
Artist Rubadiri Victor posted via Facebook that this is a blow to the local Visual Arts community. He said Mr. Pereira was the connector between the richest of patrons and the most Artists of Artists.
