A Claxton Bay father charged with manslaughter against his 15 year old daughter has been granted bail with conditions.
Thirty six year old David Alexander, a Corporal attached to the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, was charged with the offence on Tuesday.
Alliyah, of Crown Trace, Enterprise, was at her father’s Claxton Bay home on Tuesday April 5th, where she was allegedly being disciplined. Following the incident, she was found unresponsive and was taken to the Couva District Health Facility where she was pronounced dead.
Alexander appeared before Magistrate Alexander Prince at the Couva Magistrates’ Court today(April 12th).
He was granted $400,000 bail and was ordered to report to the St. Margaret’s Police Station every Wednesday.
He also has to surrender his passport before bail is approved. He is due to return to court on May 10th.
