Big Bash League: Renegades Beat Heat

Andre Russell’s 57-run innings, plus an all round performance from Akeal Hosein took the Melbourne Renegades to a four-wicket victory against the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League in Geelong today.

Batting first, the Heat reached 137 for 8 from their 20 overs. Captain Jimmy Peirson top-scored with 45, Matt Renshaw deputised with 29, and Sam Billings 25.

Tom Rogers took four for 23, Trinidad and Tobago’s Akeal Hosein took 3 for 26.

Russell’s half-century off 42 balls was the top-score as the Renegades reached their target in 19.2 overs for the loss of six wickets.

Aaron Finch finished unbeaten on 31, and Hosein returned with the bat to contribute 30 from 19.

Michael Neser was the pick of the Heat bowlers taking four for 32, Mark Steketee had figures of two for 23.
