Booster Shot Programme Continues

Many people visited the Queen’s Park Savannah and the Jean Pierre Complex in Port of Spain, despite the hot temperatures on Monday, to get the additional dose of either the Sinopharm, Pfizer or Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

One elderly recipient said he wanted to protect himself for the sake of his grandchildren. Another recipient noticed an increase in people taking the vaccine this time around when compared to when he took his first shot.

One young recipient, who will be eligible for the booster shot next year, says he is still weighing his options before taking the additional dose.

Meanwhile, those who chose the drive-in option at Jean Pierre Complex had to wait a while before receiving their vaccines. Most people who spoke with TTT News were on site to take the booster shots while a few of them were employees of the public sector.

At a press conference on Monday, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said the mass vaccination sites and health centres are fully equipped to deal with the increase in numbers.

He said additional sites will be added for employees in the public sector early next year.
