Consumers and pluck shops operators are poised to feel the effects of yet another increase in the price of chicken due to the scarcity of grain brought on by the war in Ukraine as well as a general shortage of chickens for sale.
Poultry farmers are questioning, who is set to benefit from the enhanced prices.
President of the Broiler Growers Association, Sudesh Ramkissoon, believes this increase – the second one for this year – will put some farmers out of business.
With chicken set to increase to $17 per pound, Mr. Ramkissoon wants to know what’s behind the move.
