On the heels of the Prime Minister’s announcement that beaches will be reopened and the government’s insistence that government workers should get vaccinated, several sectors in the business community have already chimed in welcoming both developments.
In a statement from the Ministry, it said Minister of Tourism Culture and the Arts, Randall Mitchell was happy for the resumption of activity at Beach Facilities under the Ministry’s direct purview, located at Maracas, Las Cuevas, Vessigny and Manzanilla.
The Ministry reminded that facilities will be opened between the hours of 5am and 12 noon and during this time there will be no consumption of alcohol, parties or playing of loud music. Mask wearing should be maintained outside of the water.
Minister Mitchell also urged all beachgoers to comply with the recommended guidelines and safety measures to maintain the health and safety of all users.
Meanwhile, AMCHAM TT says it welcomes the announcement by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, to expand the Safe Zone legislation to cover all government employees.
In a statement, AMCHAM TT says this is in keeping with the request in collaboration with other Chambers on December 13th. AMCHAM says it understands this is a sensitive issue, and this decision was not taken lightly.
The organisation says it hopes the measures combined with responsible individual behaviour will result in fewer deaths and lower infection rates as a result of COVID-19.
AMCHAM added it also looks forward to the inclusion of the private sector in the legislation that will be brought to Parliament so that businesses will also have the legal charity to designate their facilities as Safe Zones.
