Countries in the region need to continue to build the level of communication and openness between the health sector and the public.
This is according to Dr. Richard Garfield, a representative of the Global Health Security and Emergency Response and Recovery Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
At the Opening Ceremony of the Regional Health Security Pathway Planning Meeting at the Trinidad Hilton on Tuesday, Dr. Garfield noted regional leaders communicated well during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The CDC Administrator noted this country was one of more than 150 countries which applied for funding from the CDC’s Pandemic Fund.
Dr. Garfield added only 18 of those countries were funded, and Trinidad and Tobago is one of them.
