Central Bank Governor Concerned By SEA Performance

The Governor of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago has expressed concern about the decline in the SEA results for this year, attributing the matter to this country’s current economic status.

During the launch of the Central Bank’s Financial Literacy Survey on Wednesday, Dr. Alvin Hilaire said the issue is one that requires serious attention. He said this country’s challenging and concerning economic climate is perhaps a major contributing factor to the final results of SEA 2022.

Dr. Hilaire added that Trinidad and Tobago has, however, benefited from some windfall from the ongoing war in Ukraine. He said due to the demand for energy, this has reflected well in Trinidad and Tobago’s external accounts. He added however that an eye is being kept on our inflationary figure.
