The Cabinet-appointed Child Abuse Inter-Agency Task Force commenced its first meeting on Wednesday.
Their first order of business was to develop the work plan for the implementation of the recommendations of the Independent Investigative Report into the abuse of children at Children’s Homes, Rehabilitation Centres and other Institutions, which provide residential care for children.
Chairman of the Task Force, Permanent Secretary, Gender and Child Affairs, Jacinta Bailey-Sobers delivered a presentation, outlining key issues relevant to the work of the team.
This was followed by a robust discussion on the remit of the Task Force, areas of focus and the approach to be taken to accomplish the goal of completing the work plan within the given time-frame of six weeks.
