Another public space in Scarborough has come alive with the Christmas spirit.
The Scarborough Esplanade is buzzing with excitement with the opening of the Christmas Village.
Noting the establishment of the Christmas Village is a private sector driven initiative, THA Secretary of Finance, Trade and the Economy, Petal Ann Roberts, said she was blown away by the quality of the set-up at the space. She highlighted there is something for all at the venue.
“Families are encouraged to come out every night to entertainment featuring our local performers. We have the booths with our local stuff, local things that you can buy. There are curtains, there are decorations, there are toys. So sometimes in the day, you are not able to come out in the day at work or at home, but you can come and patronise the booths at nights.”
Chairman of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Tobago Division, Curtis Williams, was equally moved by the set, adding that it is of international quality. He is confident that the activities will boost business on the island.
“The media asked me what about Tobago and the buzz for Christmas and I tell them come down to the Esplanade tonight so I hope the media is here and they will see what we do in Tobago to make the buzz going and I know the Tobago Gospel Promoters will definitely give us that excitement for the next couple days.”
Chief Secretary Farley Augustine urged patrons who visit the space to be thankful for what Tobago has overcome in 2024.
“We have a whole lot we could say thanks for. From sparing us from Beryl that we prayed and ask Him to spare us. From assisting us with the oil spill clean-up, assisting us with the management of our resources, and no major tragedy on island and as it would appear we are seeing a significant lull or break in terms of the levels of criminality at this point.”
Activities at the Christmas Village will culminate on Saturday.
