Do not be distracted by failure. This is the advice from Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram to UWI Graduands of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, as he was conferred with the Honorary Doctor of Science on Saturday.
Dr. Parasram had several bits of advice to future medical practitioners, but reminded them that failure is the foundation on which the path to success is built.
He urged them to keep their integrity intact and not to find themselves in a position where their integrity is questioned.
Dr. Parasram also noted that there has been a greater appreciation to healthcare workers in recent times, but urged all doctors and nurses to treat patients as they would treat themselves.
Mr. Ray Holman, who is a musician and holder of a Hummingbird Medal Award, was also conferred the Honorary Doctor of Letters by the University on Friday evening, following which he serenaded the graduating class.
